CONDITION OF CD: STILL SEALED DELUXE LIMITED EDITION VERSION of the new Korn album in a nice little box. Includes DVD!
One review reads 'I bought the Special Edition CD with DVD, because I love watching behind the scenes videos of the recording process (this DVD is very interesting to watch). I also was a little swayed by the free T-shirt offer with this package (by the way it is $10 for shipping and handling).
This set includes...3 collectible cards for each of the remaining band members (guitarist Brian "Head" Welch left the group a few years ago, and drummer David Silveria is on hiatus), there is a card with code for free T-shirt, there is a pull out poster, the CD booklet, a cardboard jacket for the CD and another cardboard jacket for the DVD. I do have to admit that the artwork with this CD is very cool. I think that is why I spent the extra cash on it.
Now on to the music...this is a different release for Korn. Don't expect to hear the same sounds from See You On The Other Side or Take A Look In The Mirror. This album is more processed with keyboards, sound effects, layering sounds, etc. The drums are very different here also...most of which were recorded with Terry Bozzio (of Frank Zappa fame). The sound is very new, dense and melodic, but not as exciting, raw and grinding as in the past.
If you love Korn, then go for it! If you are a casual Korn fan, then listen to sound bites first or borrow from a friend to check it out. I think for me it will take some time and a few more listens to get into this one. '
