75 mm fan tam yük altında fark edilecek kadar gürültü çıkarıyor 54.7 dB(A). GTX 280, 1024 MB GDDR3 belleğe (512 bit veriyolu) sahip ve DirectX 10 desteği sunuyor. Hızaşırtılmış MSI ekran kartı iki sürüm olarak pazarda yer alıyor. Standart olan 602 MHz GPU, 1296 MHz tarayıcılar ve 2214 MHz bellek hızına sahip. 1920x1200 çözünürlükte (AA) açıkken Mass Effect (UT3 motoru) oyununda %16 başarım artışı sağlıyor. Deney setimizde bulunan bütün oyunları hesaba katarsak başarım artışı %5.8 seviyesinde gerçekleşiyor ki bu fark hızaşırtılmış MSI modelleri arasında en büyük fark.
Genel başarım açısından bakıldığında GeForce GTX 280 incelememize katılan en hızlı ekran kartı. Deneylerimizde kullandığımız altı çözünürlükten beşinde bu ekran kartı birinci sırayı aldı. Her ne kadar GTX 280 daha yüksek saat hızına ve GTX 260 ile aynı kart uzunluğuna (27 cm) sahip olsa da fanının çok daha gürültülü olduğunu söyleyemeyiz. 2B kipinde sıcaklık 53 derece seviyelerindeyken (GTX 260'ta 49 derece) gürültü seviyesi sadece 37.7 dB(A) olurken GTX 260 aynı durumda 38.1 dB(A) gürültü üretiyor. Masaüstündeyken ortaya çıkan gereğinde fazla soğutma hızı bu modelde olmuyor. Grafik yongası bir şekilde soğutuldukça fan sessiz kalmayı başarıyor. 3B kipindeyse GTX 280 54.7 dB(A) seviyesiyle adeta çığlık atıyor. Ancak en yüksek sıcaklık olarak 85 dereceye ulaşabiliyor (GTX 260 105 dereceye çıkıyordu). 2B kipinde GTX 280 saat hızını ciddi şekilde düşürerek AMD'nin HD 4850 modelinde bile ekonomik hale geliyor. GTX 280, 3B kipinden çıktığı anda düşük güç tüketimli 3B profiline geçiyor (GPU 400 MHz, tarayıcılar 800 MHz ve bellek 600 MHz), bu profildeyken tüm sistem 130 watt güç tüketiyor. Birkaç saniye daha sistem boşta kaldıktan sonra ekran kartı 2B kipine geçiyor (GPU 300 MHz, tarayıcılar 600 MHz ve bellek 200 MHz) ve sistemin toplam güç tüketimi 117 watt'a düşüyor. Tam yük altındayken GTX 280 352 watt güç tüketiyor. 12 V hattına 290-300 watt güç ve 24-28 A akım sağlayabilen kaliteli bir güç kaynağı işinizi görecektir. The boxes of such expensive cards have few quite logical characteristics - they are big, variegated and shiny. ![]() ![]() Recently it's became popular for the box to be able to be opened easily from the top, right in the store even. Now below this new hood you'll find a quite a lot of the cards characteristics on display, as well as list of the extra stuff the manufacturer put in. And that is inevitably destined to cause you to just throw your pile of money on the counter (and make no mistake, we are talking of hundreds of dollars here), in order to be able to hug the cardboard-wrapped happiness and all teary with joy (avoiding the It costs how much?!? thought) run back to your lair where uninterrupted gaming will ensue for as long as it takes for you to get zombified. Well... then again, maybe not all that vivid, after all once you have obtained the card, the manufacturer is relatively indifferent to your emotional and financial state. ![]() ![]() Still for that much money everything must be perfect. As it is indeed here - with MSI N280GTX SUPER OC you get an excellent hit game released at the same time as the card, namely - Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2. You get all the necessary cables, DVI to HDMI adapter, manuals, Driver CD and lots of software. And here is the card itself: ![]() ![]() First thing to notice is that this is totally PCB and cooler referent model (yes, the PCB cannot be seen, but MSI assures us of that), meaning it's manufactured to the exact NVIDIA design specifications and that the only difference it bears with an NVIDIA made one is in the sticker on top of the cooler. The blue plugs protect the DVI connectors and the SLI bridge connector is hidden and protected by elegant plug that interferes not with the aggressive design of the cooler.
Since the release of the 8800GTX until now not much was done for core design. The core was G80 and it had 24 ROP, 384 bit memory interface, 128 scalar processors and if this still looks impressing now, upon its release two years ago it was even more so! Since then until recently, NVIDIA had it easy - ATI were delaying R600, struggling between working on a new core and integrating themselves in AMD at the same time. Last year G92 was released and with it two models with excellent price/performance ratios - 8800GT and 8800GTS. The core was nothing new - the ROP were downsized to 16, the memory interface to 256 bit, the manufacturing process was 65nm based, and honestly speaking that was just one cheap version of G80. Yes, there were changes in its architecture, concerning addressing and texturizing units, still nothing revolutionary though. NVIDIA released the cards as 8800XXX instead of 9800XXX, in order not to cripple the sales of the older 8800GTX/GTS 320/640 ones that were still in the store shelves. Their marketing strategy later renamed these to 9800GT/9800GTX, and the 8800GS model released next became 9600GSO. Physical characteristics of NVIDIA 280GTX are quite close to the monstrous 9800GX2. Board length is 267mm, which isn't more than other top models of the company. The cooler unlike in 9800GX2 is plastic on the bottom, which is good, since the metal bottom of the enormous 9800GX2 cooler used to get quite close to the south bridge of many motherboards (an exact example is ASUS Striker || Formula) thus getting grossly overheated. The cooler is designed in such way that air is channeled in one direction - out of the case. That allows very little hot air to remain inside and the 80mm fan of 280GTX manages to keep reasonable RPM even under heavy load. The maximal power consumption of 280GTX under load could reach 236 watt. Bearing in mind that through PCI-E 1.1 only 75W can be supplied, the rest must come through the additional 6 pin connectors. |
